From the Executive Director

Welcome to the inaugural issue of AFVi’s newsletter, AFV Connection! As the education provider and information link between the alternative fuels and vehicles industry and public and private fleets, AFVi offers this newsletter as a core component of our education and information programs.

AFV Connection will be published quarterly and distributed electronically to more than 25,000 recipients. The newsletter is designed to provide timely information regarding alternative fuels and vehicles and advanced technologies that is useful to both fleets and AFV industry members. Regular features include:

  • “Focus on Fleets” – A column dedicated to helping fleets navigate their way through the decision making processes associated with using alternative fuels. This section features topics such as incentives available to help offset the costs of vehicles and/or fueling, best practices for using a particular fuel or vehicle technology, strategies for evaluating alternative fuel technologies against particular fleet needs and more.
  • “Tech Tips” – AFVi receives dozens of calls each month from fleet managers requesting assistance in solving a particular technical problem. In each issue of AFV Connection, “Tech Tips” will describe a specific, real-world technical challenge for fleets using alternative fuels and will offer workable solutions.
  • “Good Reads for Executives” – Sometimes it is easy to get bogged down in micro views of alternative fuels and vehicles and we can’t see the big picture reasons why they are so important. In “Good Reads,” we’ll provide brief summaries of hot-off-the-press publications relating to energy policy, alternative fuels, strategies, and more that keep us focused on why we’re part of this pioneering effort to transition away from traditional transportation fuels.
  • “Calendar of Events “– There are dozens of alternative fuels events every year. Which ones should you attend? “AFV Connection” will feature a calendar of promising alternative fuels and vehicles and advanced technology events on the horizon.

We are excited about the launch of AFV Connection, and I especially want to recognize Clean Energy, who provided initial funding for the publication.

Happy reading!
